Duration:
September - November 2023 (2.5 months)
Brief
I led the design and implementation of an immersive, gamified experience aimed at transforming the retail landscape for Deloitte's government clients. This project focused on fostering innovation and improving the interaction between government executives and retail technologies.
Learning & Growth
Over the course of the project, I took on multiple roles as a Project Leader, UX Designer, and Service Designer. My responsibilities included leading a multidisciplinary team, conducting user research, developing concepts, and creating high-fidelity prototypes.
I'll segue that into a few major takeaways from my internship experience at Deloitte:
Understanding the Problem
The initial phase involved extensive research to grasp the core issues and opportunities within the retail sector. I conducted numerous interviews and workshops with stakeholders to gather insights and understand their pain points and goals.
These sessions not only helped in defining the project's direction but also allowed me to develop strong communication and leadership skills, as I gradually took over the facilitation of these meetings.
Design and Iteration
I dedicated significant time to wireframing and iterating on the design concepts. This involved creating detailed sketches and high-fidelity prototypes, focusing on user-centered design principles to ensure the solutions were intuitive and engaging.
Participating in regular design critique sessions was a critical part of this process. These sessions provided valuable feedback, which I incorporated into subsequent iterations, improving the overall design quality.
Prototyping and User Testing
Developing interactive prototypes was key to visualizing the final product. I created several iterations and conducted user testing sessions to validate our design assumptions.
These tests provided crucial insights into user behavior and preferences, which were instrumental in refining the prototypes and enhancing the user experience.
Takeaway
The Future of Retail project was a highly challenging yet immensely rewarding experience. It pushed me to expand my skill set and adapt to new challenges, ultimately enhancing my ability to lead complex projects and collaborate across different functions.
